Meet John Hodge, Sr.
Our family created this foundation in honor of John Hodge Sr.-A man worthy of
much honor.

John Hodge was born in Union Springs, Alabama to the late Johnnie and Lula Pearl Hodge. He was one of eleven children. He was educated in the Bullock County School System. John later graduated from Selma University, Alabama State and the University of Alabama. He also served his country in the army.
He met and married Mary Blackmon Hodge. To this union two children were born Johnjerica and John (Whitney) Hodge, Jr. He has three grandchildren.
John dedicated his life to the teaching profession for 35 years in the Perry County School System. He lived by the motto that we must serve God and our fellowman in any way we can. He was truly a devout visionary in his time. His work included serving as Deacon and Church Clerk for Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church, officer for the Saint Paul District Association, Scout Master for troop 213, and a board member of the Community Service Program of West Alabama. John also founded HKH tutorial service. He tutored and mentored countless students in Perry and Hale County. Although he deserves more accolades than we could ever give him, we know that the one thing he’d cherish more than anything would be to see us continue his legacy of giving back to the community. We intend to do that to the best of our abilities through the foundation.
As you explore the foundation’s website, you’ll see that we try to be as expansive as he was in our charitable efforts. We encourage you to join us in whatever way you can, whether that is financial, giving of your time, or providing some other form of support.
